1- When do we use the present simple? 

    When we want to talk about routines.

FREQUENCY ADVERBS

This year your have learnt:
    Always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely and never.

But, here you have a few more adverbs:


PRESENT CONTINUOUS

1- When do we use the present continuous?

Look at the examples: 

 We use present continuous for actions happening NOW




REMEMBER:


I am reading a book
You are reading a book
He is reading a book
I am not reading a book
You are not reading a book.
He is not reading a book.
Amreading a book?
Are you reading a book?
Is he reading a book?



2- We use time expressions like:

    NOW, AT THE MOMENT, TODAY...

Number 1: What are they doing?
At the moment they are reading.



Number 2: What is she doing?
She is drawing in the blackboard.


Number 3: What is he doing?
He is sleeping now.



Number 4: What are they doing?
They are playing.

ADVERBS

An adverb describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. We studied the FREQUENCY ADVERBS. These adverbs answer the question: HOW OFTEN? 


 - How often do they play football? They usually play football.
 - How often does she cook? She never cooks.

But there are some adverbs that answer different questions. Look at these pictures:



Now we are going to see some adverbs that describe verbs and answer this question: HOW??


How are they running? 



They are running fast.
(Remember that fast doesn't change from the adjective form)
  

1- How are they reading?



They are reading sleepily
(Remember: Sleepy-sleepily)

2- How does a tortoise walk?

A tortoise walks slowly.
(Slow-slowly)

3- How is she talking (on the phone)?



She is talking (on the phone) loudly.
(Loud-loudly)
